Five Tips That Beat Bullets

I’m in a training advisory group at PECI. This group includes people from all walks of the company who have a stake in the training we develop. The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, the U.S. Department of Energy, Southern California Edison, the Building Commissioning Association and slew of others buy modules from us. So this advisory group gets together to compare notes on the different programs and talk about what makes for good training.

How to Keep People Awake with a Video Screen Capture

As a training specialist, I see a lot of slide shows, and most of them have one thing in common:

  • too
  • many
  • bulleted
  • lists

But recently, I was reviewing a presentation for a training program that PECI is developing for the Department of Energy. This program will provide junior engineers with the technical know-how for commissioning commercial buildings, a quality-assurance practice that turns energy hogs into models of efficiency.
