Call for Abstracts
The NCBC brings together experts in the design, construction and commissioning industries as well as utilities, universities, and government agencies to discuss the most recent trends and developments in the industry. The NCBC team is now accepting abstracts for potential speakers and topics at the 2007 conference in Chicago.

Presenter Requirements
- Submit your abstract for review by September
29, 2006
- Prepare and deliver a 30-minute presentation at the conference
Presenters will receive a discount on their conference registration
fee.
To Submit an Abstract
- Download the Abstract Submission Form (no longer available).
- Open the downloaded file with Microsoft Word.
- Follow the instructions on the form.
- Send the completed form as an email attachment to abstracts@peci.org
or
fax it to 503-295-0820.
Notes:
- If you submit more than one abstract, use a separate Abstract Form for
each.
- To download the form, right-click the link above, then select Save
Target/Link As.
- Abstracts must be 400 words or less.

NCBC Tracks and Suggested Topics
NCBC will have four tracks, described below with suggested presentation topics. We are always looking for creative and groundbreaking topic suggestions and will consider abstracts on topics not listed below.
Track 1: Commissioning Fundamentals
This track is for those who want an overview of key issues. Suggested paper topics include:
- Making the most of Public Resources for Commissioning
- Contracting and Coordinating Projects
- Energy-Focused Commissioning
- Making the Financial Case for Commissioning
- “Amazing Findings” and “The Biggest Loser” (Finding with the most energy savings)
Track 2: Building-Specific Commissioning
This track provides an in-depth look at commissioning practices that address specific building needs. Paper topics can focus on commissioning any of the following building types:
- Grocery Stores
- Hospitals
- Laboratories
- LEED Buildings
- Data Centers
- Institutional/University Buildings
- Government Buildings
- Owner-Occupied Retail Spaces
- Hotels and Resorts
Track 3: The Business of Commissioning
This track features presentations on the financial and business aspects of individual commissioning projects, and of commissioning as a business. Suggested topics include:
- Specifying and Contracting for Commissioning
- Selling Commissioning up the Chain of Command
- Growing Your Commissioning Business
- Defining the Deliverables of Commissioning
- How Provider Firms Can Meet the Growing Demand for Commissioning Services
- Navigating Utility Programs
Track 4: Advanced Technical
After a popular run at last year’s conference, this track is back on the agenda offering technical sessions on cutting-edge topics. Suggested topics include:
- Radiant Heating and Cooling Systems
- Approaches to Commissioning Simple Systems
- Security, Fire, and Life Safety Systems
- Building Envelope
- Monitoring Techniques to Maximize Energy Savings
- Commissioning Uninterruptible Power Systems
- Systems Typical in LEED Projects
