Mary Ann Piette’s keynote presentation will discuss how energy efficiency and demand response are linked, and the role of commissioning in demand response. Piette will cover the open automated demand response communications specification (OpenADR), national efforts on smart grid, and results from automated demand response activities in California where over 200 facilities use the open systems. She will also present results from recent tests of OpenADR in commercial buildings in Seattle. This Demand Response Research Center collaboration worked with Seattle City Light and the Bonneville Power Administration to automate demand response on cold winter mornings.
