In this business-focused session, Gerald Kettler will focus on starting the commissioning process- requests, proposals and contracts. Before any commissioning can begin, unless it’s being done by the building owner’s staff, a series of business steps must be taken to select the commissioning authority and develop a contract between the interested parties. It is important to define at the beginning of the project the scope and deliverables of the commissioning work and the relationship of the Commissioning Authority to the owner and to the agency holding the contract. This presentation will review the request for proposal and proposal response procedure, scope of services development, contract particulars and related paperwork.
Wayne Dunn’s complementary presentation profiles an effective way to use internet/ intranet user interfaces and reporting tools to interrogate a commissioning database. The intent is to maximize representation of commissioning effectiveness while minimizing data manipulation effort. Dunn will demonstrate techniques on building a document library, utilizing configuration (version) control, generating checklists & performance tests, and undertaking issue management. Sample interfaces and reports will also be profiled to demonstrate various time saving tools.
