Building Codes for Energy Efficiency and Cx

This session led by David Cohan, Krishnan Gowri and Randall Higa will help attendees gain a clearer understanding of energy efficiency and building codes today and where these codes are headed in 2010. Gowri will begin the session with an overview of code changes for ASHRAE 90.1 and what aspects of commissioning will likely be addressed in 2010. Cohan will follow with an examination of energy efficiency codes in the Northwest and how these relate to commissioning. The presentation by Higa will review California energy codes, covering the current status of commissioning in codes and how California may include more “acceptance testing” requirements in their codes in the near future.

The three speakers together will discuss whether commissioning should be included in building codes, what this could look like, how we get there and more. Audience members will be encouraged to participate in this open discussion.
