More highlights from AESP...

Today was another day of great presentations at AESP.

Some key insights:

  • Internet usage is more than TV, radio, and print media combined according to Neilson (via NStar).
  • I did not actually see this one, but someone told me about a utility that is using aerial thermal imaging to determine who has the most heat leaking from their roof, and target marketing these households.  Apparently, the program has been quite successful.
  • Some utilities are experimenting with a Groupon like approach to selling light bulbs.  The pilot was small, so it is hard to draw definitive conclusions, but they had enough participation to try it again.
  • A colleague of mine was surprised by all the software solutions at the expo – this is an area that has grown significantly in the last several years.

Tonight is the big gala, outside, overlooking the San Diego Bay.  Gotta go – don’t want to be late!
