Southern California Edison Retrocommissioning Program
The Southern California Edison Retrocommissioning Program (“SCE RCx”) reduces energy usage by up to 20% for large commercial properties, including hotels, offices, hospitals, retail, and grocery stores. This is achieved without the need for high-tech retrofits, through optimization of the building’s HVAC, lighting, and refrigeration controls.
The Program provides technical assistance and incentives for a detailed building investigation, cash incentives for owners to offset implementation costs, and also provides funding for follow-up activities to ensure that improvements are operating as expected.
The Program has a pool of over 40 qualified RCx Provider firms who carry out the RCx projects, which typically take a year to complete, as well as Field Energy Analysts in Southern California working with building owners throughout the project.
The SCE RCx Program is forecast to complete approximately 85 projects by the end of 2008, covering a total of over 26,000,000 sq.ft., making it one of the largest retrocommissioning programs undertaken to date.
