NEEA HVAC Pilot Program
Commercial HVAC systems offer a number of opportunities for improvements in the areas of refrigerants, air distribution system, and controls. PECI developed and currently manages an enhanced energy-efficiency service for HVAC packaged units in the small commercial market; AirCare Plus uses the latest tools and technology to provide HVAC technicians a complete diagnosis of their customer’s HVAC equipment problems. With these recently developed diagnostic tools tested under the pilot, contractors now have a way to diagnose and repair problems common to each of areas above.
This pilot effort assessed the market opportunities for enhanced operation and maintenance services for small packaged heating and cooling systems in commercial buildings. The pilot developed and tested an array of diagnostic tools and procedures, trained selected contractors, developed marketing materials, and documented the level of market acceptance of the service in selected markets around the Northwest.
It also tested diagnostic tools in real-world applications and documented energy savings and other benefits, as well as tested the business model for contractors to deliver enhanced O&M services. During the pilot, a marketing strategy was developed along with materials that were used by contractors.
