Dana has always liked residential buildings, especially how they function within the environment. More so how thoughtful design and a building’s systems and materials when properly applied can result in a more comfortable home with significantly reduced energy use. While in college, it was one class, Thermodynamics, and its module on building systems and heat transfer, which sparked her passion for conservation and energy efficiency.
After her work as a Technical Specialist at PNNL, a former HVAC instructor from college told her about PECI where she was quickly hired. Five years later after working first in commercial efficiency programs and then residential market transformation programs, she decided to change coasts. For the next three years she was in Boston, working for the Consortium for Energy Efficiency as Residential Program Manager. There, she saw how programs like those at PECI made an impact in the world.
Wanting to get back to the action and the west coast, she came back to Portland, and she’s been at PECI ever since.
Dana loves the challenge of her work, the non-stop stimulation that happens from the minute she walks in to when she leaves, as well as the company’s the-sky-is-the-limit attitude, which has allowed her own growth into her current leading position. But it’s her colleagues and the long-term impact of their efforts that mean the most. “Our work is vital to making a difference.”
When not in the office, Dana enjoys time in the outdoors camping and hiking and spending time with friends, and with her husband and dogs Jake and Camille.
